Bariatric surgery is a type of weight loss surgery performed on individuals who are severely obese and have been unable to lose weight through conventional methods such as diet and exercise. The primary goal of bariatric surgery is to reduce the size of the stomach, thereby limiting the amount of food a person can consume and helping them achieve significant weight loss.
After the surgery, individuals are required to make long-term changes in their eating habits, incorporate regular exercise, and follow-up with their healthcare team for monitoring and support.
I am 18 months post-op and I'm down with 58kgs! Before considering weight loss surgery I was weighing 160kgs. I never thought I I'd have this confidence. I have struggled with weight, I have tried so many diets and workout plans and it didn't work. Dr Kaisha told me that he believed the gastric sleeve would be a great tool. He was right. This surgery has taught me to have a better eating habits. It has taught me to control food portion. It has not deprived me the things I enjoy because I enjoy them in moderation. I hope sharing this helps someone know there is hope. Am forever grateful to Dr Kaisha.
I have been clinically obese for most of my adult life. After the birth of my child, was diagnosed with High Blood pressure. I also had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, this meant that I had insulin resistance which led to excessive weight gain, no matter how much I exercised. At the end of 2022, I was informed by my Cardiologist that I was Pre-Diabetic, I was quickly heading towards a diabetic diagnosis. My weight was concentrated on my midsection, which means I had Central Obesity. I knew I had to act fast in order to improve my health. I did my research and discovered that Bariatric surgery is the only cure. I asked my friends in the medical fraternity about the best Bariatric surgeon and it was unanimous, Dr Wycliffe Kaisha. I scheduled an appointment with him and he advised me to have a Mini-Gastric Bypass because of my medical history. I had the surgery in March 2023. Dr Kaisha gave me all the support I needed both pre and post op. It was the best decision. My pressure returned back to normal a few weeks after the surgery, I no longer take medication. I was 120 kgs on the day of the operation, I have lost 25kgs 9 weeks after the surgery. I would like to recommend Bariatric surgery to anyone who is obese and would like to be healthy again. Visit Dr Kaisha, your life will be transformed.
